Alouettes look to complete home-and-home sweep of Lions

The Montreal Alouettes will look to complete a home-and-home sweep of the B.C. Lions when they travel to Vancouver for Saturday's game. Note the kick-off time of 10:00 p.m. ET.

This is the second of three home-and-home matchups against Western opponents for the Als in 2026. They swept the Calgary Stampeders in consecutive outings on July 11 and 18.

They'll also play two consecutive games against the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Oct. 12 and 17.

Sweeping the Lions won't be easy. The Alouettes have historically had a tough time winning at B.C. Place. Their last win came in 2015 when they won, 23-13. Rakeem Cato was the starting quarterback for the Als in that game.

Running back Stevie Scott III returns

Look for several starters to sit out on Saturday night starting with running back Travis Theis who was placed on the six-game injured list earlier this week. Theis suffered a lower-body injury in the first half of last week's victory against the Lions.

"Travis won't be available this week," head coach Jason Maas said after Tuesday's on-field session in Saint-Leonard. "We're not going to play with him this week and we're going to see going forward. Whenever he's ready to come back, he's going to come back. It's not season-ending at all, but he will definitely be held out this game."

The good news is that Stevie Scott III is ready to make his return to the lineup. The 26-year-old, who was the team's starter in the second half of last season and in the Grey Cup game, has been limited to just one game due to injury.

Scott's best performance came in Week 15 in Regina last year when he ran for 125 yards on 19 carries.

Other changes to the lineup

Starting left tackle Nick Callender was held out of practice this week because of a back injury. Des Holmes, who has missed every game in 2026 with a back injury, will make his season debut.

Holmes, 27, started four games for the Alouettes in 2025.

Veteran defenders Najee Murray (head) and Wes Sutton (back) will also miss this game. Both players didn't practice throughout the week.

Adding some local flavour

The Alouettes will be adding a pair of local players to their lineup on offence this week.

2026 first-rounder Rohan Jones is listed as a starting receiver on the Alouettes' official depth chart. Jones participated in Los Angeles Rams training camp this summer and signed with the Alouettes last weekend.

“To have this jersey on my back (is special) – there’s no messing around anymore,” Jones said after practice earlier this week. “I’m ready to play. It’s all super exciting for me. Especially to practice (at Stade-Hebert) brings back memories because we practiced here when I studied at College Jean-Eudes (high school).”

He's a versatile athlete that can line up at receiver, fullback and tight-end, and he can also contribute on special teams. The Montrealer had 19 receptions for 519 yards and four receiving touchdowns as well as a rushing major in 12 games at the University of Arkansas last season.

Also, veteran David Dallaire will make his season debut on Saturday night.

Dallaire tore his ACL late last season and has been working his way back to full health over the last few months.
