Montreal, September 1, 2026 – The Montreal Alouettes announced Tuesday that they have signed Senior Vice President of Football Operations and General Manager Danny Maciocia, as well as Head Coach Jason Maas, to two-year contract extensions.
Maciocia is now under contract through the 2031 season, while Maas is signed through the 2030 campaign.
Maciocia returned to the Alouettes as General Manager in January 2020. He appointed Maas as Head Coach in December 2022. The two men have a long-standing relationship dating back to 2002, when Maciocia was Edmonton’s offensive coordinator and Maas was the team’s quarterback.
Since their arrival in Montreal, Maciocia and Maas have led the Alouettes to a Grey Cup championship in 2023. The team finished first in the regular-season standings with a 12-5-1 record in 2024 and reached the Grey Cup the following year. Together, they have compiled a record of 42 wins, 22 losses and one tie.
Under Maciocia’s leadership, the Alouettes have acquired several impact players, including quarterback Davis Alexander and running back Travis Theis. He and his staff have also drafted and developed several Canadian star players, including Geoffrey Cantin-Arku, Nate Beauchemin, Arthur Hamlin, Pier-Olivier Lestage, Tyson Philpot, Tyrell Richards and Jonathan Sutherland, among others.
In six seasons with Maciocia as General Manager, the Alouettes have never missed the playoffs.
“I would like to thank Mr. Pierre Karl Péladeau for this vote of confidence, which means so much to our team. I am happy to continue with an organization that is stable, strong and filled with talent,” said Maciocia. “Jason and I have focused on building a solid foundation, and we are now reaping the rewards of our efforts. The next few years are shaping up to be very exciting for our football team and for the city of Montreal and the entire province of Quebec. I could not have achieved this success without Jason’s contribution and leadership, as well as that of our football operations staff. Jason has surrounded himself with great football minds while successfully establishing strong chemistry and a strong work ethic in our locker room. He deserves the credit. I am very proud of him.”
Maas is just one victory away from tying legendary coach Marv Levy (43) for fourth place all-time.
“I would like to thank Mr. Péladeau for the confidence he has shown in me since the beginning of my journey with the Alouettes. Since joining this team, I have had the opportunity to work with great leaders, including Mr. Péladeau and his management team, while being surrounded by so many incredible people throughout this organization,” said Jason Maas. “Alongside Danny, we continue to build a winning culture that extends throughout our entire organization, and I am very grateful to him for that. We know this team is filled with great people who possess all the qualities, determination and effort needed to pursue a ninth championship. Our goal will always be to represent Montreal, Quebec and the 425 in the best possible way, every week. It is incredible to see the support from our fans and the enthusiasm they show at every practice and every game. We want to keep building on our momentum and continue to build on our success, and that is extremely motivating.”
The Alouettes (9-2-0) will play their next game against the B.C. Lions on Friday, September 4 at 7:30 p.m. at Percival Molson Memorial Stadium. Tickets are still available HERE.
