Travis Theis placed on six-game injured list

The Montreal Alouettes have placed running back Travis Theis on the six-game injured list. He suffered a lower-body injury during last Friday's win over the B.C. Lions.

"Travis won't be available this week," head coach Jason Maas said after Tuesday's on-field session in Saint-Leonard. "We're going to not play with him this week and we're going to see going forward. Whenever he's ready to come back, he's going to come back. It's not season-ending at all, but he will definitely be held out this game."

With Stevie Scott III also on the six-game injured list, the Als will turn to rookie running back Shomari Lawrence to replace Theis in the starting lineup in Vancouver on Saturday night.

The 24-year-old's most productive outing so far came in a Week 12 win over the Ottawa Redblacks when he rushed for 71 yards on only 10 carries. In all, he has 152 yards on 22 carries. Of his 22 carries in 2026, seven have gone for 10-plus yards.

"It's a great opportunity for Shomari," Maas added. "Shomari played our first game of the season with limited reps all week because he wasn't even expected to be on the roster. Stevie went down early and Travis went down in the first quarter of the game and (Lawrence) played the rest of the game. That tells you everything you need to know about Shomari. He'll be ready to play. He's got talent. That's why he's here. He's had another 10 or 11 weeks to learn what we're doing and go out there and produce."

Expect Canadian rookie Liam Talbot to also be on the roster. The former Windsor product scored his first career CFL touchdown against the Lions last week.
