The Montreal Alouettes stomped the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, 37-10, before a sellout crowd of 23,035 at Percival Molson Stadium on Saturday night. The win allowed the Als to clinch first place in the East. This will be the team’s fifth consecutive appearance in the Eastern Final dating back to 2022.

This was arguably the Alouettes’ most complete game of 2026. They dominated in all three phases of the game. They were in total control for most of the night.

The offence was explosive, the defence dominated, and special teams made the plays they needed to make.

As has been the case for most of the season, the Als were led offensively by quarterback Davis Alexander and receiver Tyson Philpot, who broke three major records on Saturday night.

Philpot finished the game with a ridiculous 11 catches for 207 yards, which allowed him to set the Als’ franchise record for most receptions in a season (the previous record was 112 held by Jamel Richardson and Ben Cahoon). The 26-year-old now has 119 and there are still three games remaining this season.

He also broke Brad Sinopoli’s record of 116 receptions in a season by a Canadian receiver and Terry Evanshen’s mark of 1,662 receiving yards in a season by a Canadian pass-catcher.

Through 15 games, Philpot is on pace for a ridiculous 2,082 receiving yards. He would become the first Alouette to surpass 2,000 yards ever. He’s also on track to finish with 143 receptions.

“It’s truly a blessing and an honour,” he said after the game. “I talk about how I was a young Canadian. Growing up in the backyard, I had that football with the white stripes. I watched Ben Cahoon and these guys. I envisioned myself playing in the CFL. To see it all come to fruition and to do this in front of the Montreal fans and everybody else, there’s no better feeling.”

To make the night even more special, Philpot managed to beat Cahoon and Richardson’s record while the two greats were in attendance for the Alouettes’ 80th anniversary celebrations this week.

“I wore a Ben Cahoon jersey when I walked in (to the stadium),” Philpot mentioned. “Meeting those guys and feeling the greatness and being at the (events) with all the great legends around me, I just felt like I envisioned this. I was just in the zone. I’ve always prided myself on rising to the occasion. If they need a big play from me, I’m always going to come down with it.”

As for the rest of the game, it really was no contest.

The Alouettes accumulated 526 yards on net offence while the Bombers had just 182.

The offence held the ball for 40:38 and the Bombers controlled it for less than 20 minutes.

The defence held Blue Bombers star running back Brady Oliveira to just 44 yards rushing in the game.

The victory allows the Alouettes to improve to 8-0-0 at home on the season. Their final regular season home game will come on Thanksgiving Monday at 1:00 p.m. ET against the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

“I don’t know, man, there’s something different about playing here in Montreal,” defensive end Isaac Adeyemi-Berglund, who played in his 100th game on Saturday night, said. “I can’t put it into words. It’s different and I attribute it to the fans. The players are always going to play hard, but being here is different.”

The Alouettes now have three regular season games remaining. They’ll host the Riders before traveling to Saskatchewan and Toronto to close out 2026.

They’ll get to enjoy a bye week during the first round of the playoffs, and they’ll host the winner of the matchup between the Argonauts and whichever Western team crosses over into the East on November 7th.

Head coach Jason Maas’ squad needs one more victory in early November to earn a second straight Grey Cup berth.
