The Alouettes dropped a 29-48 decision to the Lions on Saturday night in Vancouver, despite a comeback bid fueled by touchdowns from Tyson Philpot and Tyrice Beverette.

B.C. Place hasn't been friendly to the Montreal Alouettes over the last two-plus decades and that trend continued Saturday night. The Als dropped a 29-48 decision to the Lions on the West Coast.

The score doesn't indicate how close the game actually was, but the Alouettes made a lot of mistakes that they're going to want back. Whether it be penalties, drops or missed assignments, there are a lot of things to correct heading into next Friday's game in Hamilton.

Give the Lions credit, they made the plays that they needed to make early on. They ended up jumping out to a 17-0 lead and never relinquished the lead.

But you have to tip your hat to the Als because they could've folded at that point. Instead, they battled back. They got a huge touchdown from Tyson Philpot on the drive following their own interception and they got a defensive score when Tyrice Beverette recorded a strip sack on Nathan Rourke on the following drive. Mustafa Johnson scooped up the ball and managed to take it to the end zone for another major.

The Lions managed to pull away in the fourth quarter, but it didn't feel like the Als ever threw in the towel.

Unfortunately for Montreal, two players exited the game. Kabion Ento appeared to suffer a lower-body injury in the first half and didn't return. Returner DeVonte Dedmon was carted off the field with a scary-looking injury.

No updates were provided on either player after the game.

What's next?

The Alouettes will be back on the road next week, as they travel to Hamilton Stadium to take on the Tiger-Cats on Friday night. The team will then have a bye week before returning home to take on the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Oct. 3.
